Week 2 Picks!

After seeing Josh and I duel it out last week, some of the other guys decided to submit their picks as well. Chris from the Washington/Baltimore, Dan from the BayArea and Scott from the New York sites submit their picks as well! To make it nice and orderly, I took the liberty of making it look nice while I was out of commission this week.

Also, here's some comments on the games above...

Chiefs @ Lions (-8.5)
Chris: Detroit's a good team now. Expect them to win a lot of games, especially against a beat down KC team.
Scott: It might be the year of a "healthy" Matthew Stafford, but it's only Week 2, so that statement does not hold much credibility. In any case, after an abysmal outing last week, KC does not have it in them to match up with Calvin and Co. Especially on the road.
Suny: Kansas City's abysmal pre-season has carried over to the regular season and it looks like it will continue in Mo Town. The Chiefs can't put up enough points to cover the spread.
Spread: Lions

Raiders @ Bills (-3.5)
Chris: Fitzpatrick is coming off an amazing game, and coming home to some excited fans. I expect them to keep up the tempo.
Scott: I'm tempted to consider this a 'game of the week' of sorts after the high-level performances of both teams in Week 1. Touch call, but I just cannot hedge my bets on an Al Davis-run team. And I've gotta have faith in the Harvard boy (Fitzpatrick)
Suny: Fun Fact, Ryan Fitzpatrick sucks at home. He's only won 3 games in Buffalo in the past 2 years. Every time he throws 4 TDs, the next game has a QB rating under 70.
Spread: Raiders

Buccaneers @ Vikings (-3.5)
Chris: AP can only do so much. McNabb needs to throw more than 39 yards to win this game against a young TB team.
Scott: Two high-flying teams facing off in the dome. Last week, Donovan threw for 39 yards, and he cannot do that again - with his age and level of experience, it's up to him to make the calls at quarterback (forget Frazier). Donovan leads his team to the first win of the season and pushes the Bucs to 0-2.
Suny: Fun Fact: last time Tampa Bay lost to Minnesota, they were in a division called the NFC Central. I like that trend.
Spread: Buccaneers

Bears @ Saints (-7.5)
Chris: Chicago had a great win against Atlanta last weekend, but I don't expect Drew Brees will have much trouble at home.
Scott: Another great game this week. Chicago looked like the Super Bowl champs that never were - if only Hester's kickoff return from Play 1 of SB 41 translated into positive plays and ultimately a win. Saints played hard, and back at home in friendly Louisiana, I don't envision them losing.
Suny: Fun Fact: Drew Brees has NEVER beaten the Bears
Spread: Bears

Ravens @ Titans (+5.5)
Chris: I don't think this even needs an explanation.
Scott: Hasselbeck and Tennessee just don't make a good fit yet (maybe someday down the road, but with Baltimore, a team that looks like it just won a Super Bowl last week in tow, days are gloomy for newly installed Munchak and staff)
Suny: And you thought last week was a massacre... wait till this week when the Titans don't even have hope (Chris Hope that is) to prevent Flacco from going deep.
Spread: Ravens

Browns @ Colts (+2.5)
Chris: The Browns are just awful. Indianapolis has a lot of issues w/o Peyton, but they're fixable.
Scott: This is actually not an easy call, and because I hate the Colts so much (even without Peyton, one of my least favorite - yet most well-respected players in my lifetime), I'm going with the road team.
Suny: Fun Fact: Browns have never beaten the Colts, but all of their games have been decided by a touchdown or less. I think this one will be too.
Spread: Colts

Jaguars @ Jets (-10.5)
Chris: NY got lucky last week, but Jacksonville is a much easier opponent.
Scott: Whenever you smash mouth Revis, you're inadvertently talking down to Rex Ryan too. Not a good call. McCown and Co. do not hold a candle to a fired-up NY team. Easy one here.
Suny: Funny story, Jacksonville has always had New York's number, but that was with Garrard. McCown has now won exactly three games in his career. Will he make the Jets #4? Not a chance. Not even close.
Spread: Jets

Seahawks @ Steelers (-14.5)
Chris: Ben and his boys will look to lay a smackdown on Seattle to avenge their loss from last week.
Scott: Big Ben looks soo bad last week that it's just not very likely to happen again. Seattle look soo bad last week - two TDs via special teams surrendered in 59 seconds - and it can happen again.
Suny: Fun Fact: Seattle hasn't beaten the Steelers with Big Ben at QB. Add to that the Steelers are extremely pissed after getting humiliated last week.
Spread: Steelers

Cardinals @ Redskins (-4.5)
Chris: Tim Hightower goes against his old team and wants to prove to them they shouldn't have let him go. Arizona is coming off a win, but to a poor Carolina team. Washington should have a much easier game than last week.
Scott: I'm not quite sure what to think here. On the one hand, Rex looked like the God the DC area had always hoped for; on the other, the Cardinals defense was porous against Carolina, which made Cam Newton look like a God. I think Kevin Kolb will start to his his stride this week. Yes, on the road.
Suny: Fun Fact: Arizona has yet to beat Washington since it left the NFC East. I'm imagining what Rex Grossman is going to do to Arizona's secondary after what Newton did.
Spread: Redskins

Packers @ Panthers (+10.5)
Chris: lol...
Scott: Cam Newton's first home showing is not going to be fun.
Suny: Cam Newton is going to get wrecked
Spread: Packers

Cowboys @ 49ers (-2.5)
Chris: The Cowboys really do know how to screw up, they have a great history of that, but SF is really bad..
Scott: Two storied franchises hit the bay. In Week 1: Dallas fell apart, San Francisco look OK (minus Ted Ginn, they did nothing special). I guess I'll go with the road team since my last two picks have been road teams.
Suny: Fun Fact: Tony Romo has lost only one game to the NFC West, and that was due to a blocked punt returned for a TD. Look for his winning ways to continue.
Spread: Cowboys

Chargers @ Patriots (-6.5)
Chris: San Diego is a playoff contender, but New England is back to dominant form.
Scott: San Diego... Superchargers! Not this week. Rest assured Brady will not perform like he did last week, but he has too many offensive weapons to manipulate the Chargers' defense in all sorts of ways.
Suny: Fun Fact: Brady has won his past four meetings with the Chargers. Expect it to continue, but the Chargers can keep it close
Spread: Chargers

Texans @ Dolphins (+2.5)
Chris: I think this will be a close game, but Houston looks to be the new AFC South Champion
Scott: It's the years of the Texans. Tempting to take Miami at home, but I don't trust Henne after last year's roller coaster ride.
Suny: Fun Fact: Miami has never beaten Houston, look for it ton continue
Spread: Texans

Bengals @ Broncos (-5.5)
Chris: This game will be a laughter because both teams are so bad, but Cincinnati has a much better future and will prevail.
Scott: I think Cincinnati's season will fare just fine, but they're not at that point yet. Denver is much more experienced and better coached (Fox, and they take advantage of the Mile High this week.
Suny: The Broncos gave up a ton of rushing yards to Oakland, who's to say they can stop Cedric Benson?
Spread: Bengals

Eagles @ Falcons (+2.5)
Chris: As long as Vick can be protected, the Eagles will have better weapons to win this game.
Scott: Don't ask my why Atlanta performed poorly last week, and definitely don't inquire as to why I am picking both the Cowboys and Eagles to win this week, when I adamantly hate them. Let's face it: Vick's good, and I'll stick with the momentum pick.
Suny: If I'm an Eagles fan, I'm worried about this run defense, Stephen Jackson and Cadillac Williams ran all over them last week, this week they face Michael Turner. If Matt Ryan doesn't get injured, this will be a win for the Falcons
Spread: Falcons
Rams @ Giants (-6.5)
Chris: Both these teams are facing some tough injuries, but the Giants are a more well rounded and talented team.
Scott: The G-Men in the spotlight = uh oh! I don't have much confidence in Eli not throwing an interception outside of the primetime spotlight, let alone during MNF. Yet somehow, I have a few morsels of faith, and I certainly have to represent my upbringing
Suny: The Rams have a ton of injuries, the Giants should get Tuck back, but Bradford's got a bruised finger and Amendola and Jackson are out
Spread: Giants
