So another day, another blog about a position, today is Wide receivers, hence Wednesdays out wide. There's a ton of wide receivers out there, so I'm not going to go as in depth as I did with QBs, after Week 4, I should have a formula to figure out their performance on a week-to-week basis. Also, I'll try to figure out how to do this on a week-to-week basis. So today, this is just an idea of what information I can give about wide receivers. If you have any other ideas you'd like to see implemented, feel free to comment or e-mail me!
The one important thing about receivers that everyone should know is how many times they are targeted on passes in a game. I say this because, while you may have a good receiver, the more opportunities he has, the better off he'll be. Listed below are the players that had 8 or more targets this past weekend. You might want to grab one of them if they're available in your league because it indicates that a QB definitely wants to throw to them.
Roddy White (13) - 8 rec, 61 yds
Brandon Marshall (13) - 7 rec, 139 yds
Wes Welker (12) - 8 rec, 160 yds, 2 tds
DeSean Jackson (12) - 6 rec, 102 yds, 1 td
Steve Smith (11) - 8 rec, 178 yds, 2 td
Andre Johnson (11) - 7 rec, 95 yds, 1 td
Brandon Lloyd (11) - 6 rec, 89 yds
Hakeem Nicks (11) - 7 rec, 122 yds
Mike Wallace (11) - 8 rec, 107 yds
Reggie Wayne (10) - 7 rec, 106 yds, 1 td
Santonio Holmes (10) - 6 rec, 70 yds
Calvin Johnson (10) - 6 rec, 88 yds, 2 tds
Kenny Britt (10) - 5 rec, 136 yds, 2 tds
Mike Thomas (10) - 8 rec, 55 yds
Mike Williams (TB) (10) - 4 rec, 50 yds, 1 td
Plaxico Burress (9) - 4 rec, 72 yds, 1 td
Deion Branch (9) - 7 rec, 93 yds
Devery Henderson (9) - 6 rec, 100 yds, 1 td
Marques Colston (9) - 6 rec, 81 yds
Miles Austin (9) - 5 rec, 90 yds, 1 td
Jerome Simpson (9) - 4 rec, 44 yds
Antonio Brown (9) - 2 rec, 14 yds
Santana Moss (8) - 6 rec, 76 yds
Malcom Floyd (8) - 3 rec, 45 yds
Greg Jennings (8) - 7 rec, 89 yds, 1 td
Dwayne Bowe (8) - 2 rec, 17 yds
Robert Meachem (8) - 5 rec, 70 yds, 1 td
Jordy Nelson (8) - 6 rec, 77 yds
Dez Bryant (8) - 3 rec, 71 yds, 1 td
Another thing, how many times they get targeted IN THE RED ZONE! These are receivers that were targeted three or more times in the red zone. Why do I use 3 or more? Because that indicates that a QB really wants to go after them when they have the opportunity to score TDs.
Andre Johnson (4)
Mike Williams (TB) (4)
Braylon Edwards (4)
Roddy White (3)
Nate Burleson (3)
Miles Austin (3)
Brandon Marshall (3)
Brian Hartline (3)
