Hey folks, this is my first blog entry for GTFOS and I'll make it brief.
Last night the Boston Bruins defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0 in Tampa to take a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. Game four will be played in Tampa Bay tomorrow, Saturday May 21 at 1:30 p.m.
Last nights game may have lacked the exciting back-and-forth action that characterized games 1 and 2 (where both teams combined for 18 goals scored), but it was exactly what the Bruins were looking for. The return of Patrice Bergeron (19+ minutes, ~64% on the draw), a more confident Tim Thomas, and an overall stronger commitment to team defense and positioning all led the Bruins to a fantastic shut-out victory on Tampa's home ice.
David Krejci opened up the scoring just over a minute into the first period with his seventh goal of the playoffs on a nifty move to beat Roloson right on top of the crease. The game's only other goal would come about 8 minutes into the third on a shot from the blue line by Andrew Ference that just barely snuck through the five hole.
Some other interesting things to note:
Both teams were 0-3 on the powerplay
Shawn Thornton was benched in favor of Tyler Seguin
Seguin, after having 3-3-6 totals in the first two games of the series was limited to 0 points in Game 3, although he was involved in the Ference goal that made it 2-0.
I'll be on a bus during the game tomorrow, so look for live updates as I stream the game during the trip.
